Getting from Chongqing Jiangbei Airport (CKG) to your room is easy once you match your ride to your luggage. Take the fast metro if you travel light during the day, or take an official taxi to skip steep hillside stairs and roll straight up to your lobby.
Start with your hotel entrance
Before taking off, save three items on your phone:
- your hotel name in Chinese characters
- the full street address in Chinese
- a photo of the main road entrance
Ask the hotel front desk which metro exit has an escalator or elevator, and whether the walking route has outdoor stairs. This step is essential in Chongqing (重庆), because a single hillside building can have entrances on different street levels.
A hotel around Jiefangbei (解放碑) is great for evening walks, but it may sit high above the subway platforms. An official taxi drops you right at the street entrance. A standard navigation app might guide you to a lower alley with long stairs. Save the exact drive-up lobby pin to make your arrival effortless.
Use our hotel map to compare locations before booking. Always confirm the entrance that cars can reach so you never have to haul heavy suitcases up steep outdoor steps.
Follow the terminal on your flight booking
The airport code for Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (重庆江北国际机场) is CKG. Check the arrival terminal on your boarding pass. After collecting your bags, follow the overhead signs for rail transit, taxis, or the ground transport center.
Decline taxi offers from touts who approach you inside the arrival hall or at terminal exits. Use the official taxi waiting area or book through an official app. Head straight to the marked taxi line, or call a ride in DiDi and follow its designated pickup instructions. Our travel safety guide covers more tips on smooth arrivals.
The airport rail transit station at Terminal 3 connects directly to Line 10. Terminal 2 connects to both Line 3 and Line 10. If you land at T3, Line 10 is your direct train link into the city rail network.
When heading back to the airport for your flight home, check your departure terminal carefully so you get off at the right stop.
Take Line 10 from T3
Follow the overhead signs from the T3 arrival hall downstairs to the metro station marked Jiangbei Airport T3 (江北机场T3航站楼). You can buy a single-ride ticket at the touch-screen machines using mobile pay or cash, or scan in with your transit QR code. Station staff at the customer service desk can help you buy tickets if you show them your destination station in Chinese.
To reach Jiefangbei and the shopping streets around Xiaoshizi (小什字; Xiaoshizi), take Line 10 to Hongtudi (红土地; Hongtudi). At Hongtudi, switch to Line 6 toward Chayuan (茶园; Chayuan) and get off at Xiaoshizi. Check the neighbourhood map near the ticket barriers to pick the exit closest to your hotel.
If your hotel is closer to Linjiangmen (临江门; Linjiangmen) or Jiaochangkou (较场口; Jiaochangkou), check your route on a map app so you exit on the upper flat street rather than at the bottom of a hill.
All passenger flights now use T3. To take Line 3, first take Line 10 from T3 to T2, then change to Line 3 and transfer at Lianglukou (两路口; Lianglukou) for Line 1. Our Chongqing metro guide explains tickets, line transfers, and station exits.
Check the first and last train schedules if you have an early or late flight. Give yourself 45 to 60 minutes after landing to clear border control, collect checked bags, and walk to the train platform.

Choose a taxi for the hotel door
Follow airport signs to the official taxi queue. Show the driver your hotel name and address in Chinese characters:
师傅,请去这个地址:(Driver, please take me to this address:)
Metered taxis in Chongqing run on the meter plus any highway tolls. Always ask the driver to turn on the meter (请打表; qing dabiao) and take the printed receipt when you get out.
Ride-hailing apps use designated pickup zones located in the airport parking structures. In the DiDi app, confirm your exact terminal and follow the in-app photo directions to the pickup bay.
Setting up your travel payment apps and mobile data before you fly makes ordering a car smooth. Our DiDi and ride-hailing guide walks you through account setup and pickup points.
A pre-booked private transfer is the most relaxing choice if you travel with young kids, carry heavy suitcases, or land after midnight when trains stop running.
Consider the airport bus
The K01 airport bus runs directly from T3 to Jiefangbei. It is a handy option if you carry large bags and want to avoid changing subway lines. Check current operating times, route stops, and fares at the ground transport service desk in the arrival hall. Before buying a ticket, compare the walk from the bus drop-off point with the taxi or metro route to your hotel.
Give your first evening some space
Pick a convenient neighbourhood using our where to stay guide.
If you stay near Jiefangbei, drop your bags at the front desk before exploring. Stroll over to Hongya Cave (洪崖洞) after dark when the stilt houses light up over the river. Navigating Chongqing's multi-level streets is far more enjoyable with empty hands.
Common questions
How do I reach Jiefangbei from T3 by metro?
Take Line 10 from Jiangbei Airport T3 to Hongtudi, then transfer to Line 6 toward Chayuan and get off at Xiaoshizi. Check the station exit map to choose the gate nearest your hotel.
What should I choose for a late arrival?
If you land after 22:30 or have multiple heavy bags, take an official metered taxi from the airport queue or book a private transfer. That takes you straight to your hotel entrance without climbing stairs late at night.
